Does a Cushion Box Need to Be Airtight?

If anything, it needs the opposite: planned ventilation. What Do "Nominal" Lumber Sizes Actually Mean?

A standard "1x6" board does not measure one inch by six inches. It measures about three-quarters of an inch by five and a half inches, because the nominal size describes the rough-cut board before it gets planed smooth. Design a box off the nominal numbers and the whole thing comes out narrower than planned, and the cushions won't fit. I've made that mistake before, so now every board gets checked with calipers before it makes it onto a cut list, nominal size or not.
